BayWa Renewable Energy has secured the technical and commercial asset management of three UK wind farms with a total capacity of 102MW for global asset manager MEAG.
The facilities are the 65MW Scout Moor in Lancashire, England, the 16MW Bagmoor in Lincolnshire, England and the 21.25MW Tir Mostyn, in Denbighshire, Wales.
BayWa RE will take control of the sites in August, servicing the wind farms from its UK offices and monitoring them from its control centre in Munich, Germany.
The deal adds wind to the portfolio of renewable energy assets that BayWa RE is managing for MEAG in the UK, with the company already managing the operation and maintenance (O&M) of four solar farms, totalling 55MW.
MEAG manages around €268bn in global assets for Munich Re and ERGO as well as private and institutional clients.
BayWa RE operation service managing director Oliver Niedhofer said: “We have over 1.9GW of solar and wind power already under management within the UK and Ireland, with a further 500MW in our development and construction pipeline.”
MEAG managing director Holger Kerzel said: “MEAG is investing on behalf of Munich Re Group’s infrastructure investment programme aiming at sustainable investments with an optimised risk-return profile.
“The UK is an important market for us and having these wind farm projects in the safe hands of BayWa RE, is a great reassurance for us.”
