The German federal ministry of economics has released details of the government’s plans to boost the onshore wind sector in the country.
The ministry said the measures serve as an “important step towards strengthening wind energy on land, thereby contributing to achieving the target of 65% share of renewable energies in electricity consumption in 2030”.
It noted that joint action between federal and state governments will be needed to achieve the goal of strengthening the onshore wind sector.
For example, “the technical implementation of the need-based night marking for wind turbines, so that the nightly steady blinking has an end” will require a technical regulation to be adapted by the federal ministry of transport, the government said.
State governments will also have to agree to the change, it added.
More clarity is also needed on regulations covered by a species and nature conservation law for which the ministry for the environment is responsible.
The ministry of economics and technology will have responsibility for legal adjustments that will better synchronise renewables growth with network expansion.
All the measures and actions were first discussed with the onshore industry on 5 September.
