Quebec developer Boralex has commissioned the 15MW Moose Lake wind farm in British Columbia, Canada.
The four-turbine plant, located on Crown land approximately 24km north-west of Tumbler Ridge, is covered by a 40 year power purchase agreement with Canadian utility BC Hydro.
Boralex developed Moose Lake in partnership with Aeolis Wind Power Corporation, West Moberly First Nations, Saulteau First Nations and McLeod Lake Indian Band.
Boralex chief executive Patrick Lemaire said: “Moose Lake is our first wind farm in British Columbia.
“This commissioning allows us to diversify our asset base in the province and also brings us closer to our target of 2000MW by 2020. We are now just 23MW away from our goal.”
The commissioning brings Boralex’s installed capacity in Canada, France and the US to 1977MW.
The construction of the plant required 50 specialist workers on site each day.
