General contractor Borea Construction has completed access road and foundation construction at the 150MW Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n wind project in Quebec. Work is wrapping up for the winter and will re-start next spring.
Canadian developer Innergex Renewable Energy and three First Nation communities own the C$340m project in a 50-50 partnership. The partners in September closed a C$311.7m non-recourse construction and term project financing.
Senvion next year will deliver 46 3.2MW-114 and one 2.05MW turbines. LM Wind Power has started serial production of what are Canada’s largest home-grown turbine blades at its plant in the Gaspé region.
Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n is on track to start commercial operation by 1 December 2016. Hydro-Quebec will buy the output under a 20-year fixed-price power purchase agreement.
The utility has started building a 25km 230kV power line to integrate the wind farm into the provincial transmission grid.
