US wind component supplier Broadwind has secured a $19m (€17m) order for tower sections from an undisclosed turbine manufacturer.
Illinois-headquartered Broadwind will deliver the sections to the customer through early 2021.
The majority of revenue resulting from the order will occur in the fourth quarter of this year, said the company.
Broadwind chief executive Eric Blashford said: “We continue to experience improved demand for wind tower sections, given increased global investment in the development of clean, sustainable energy sources.
“In 2020, we anticipate the US will add nearly 15GW of onshore wind capacity, an increase of more than 40% compared to the prior year.”
The company said it has booked 80% of its 2020 tower production capacity backlog with this latest order.
