Building Energy Wind Iowa has inaugurated a 30MW wind farm in Iowa, comprising 10 3MW turbines.
The $58m project, which is located in Story, Boone, Hardin and Poweshiek counties, will generate approximately 110 gigawatt hours of electricity a year.
Electricity and related renewable credits will be sold under a bundled, long-term power purchase agreement to a local utility.
Capital One Bank is providing tax equity of approximately $33m to the project.
Building Energy managing director North America Andrea Braccialarghe said: “The wind farm will span six different towns, Huxley, Kelley, East Ames, East Nevada, Grinnell and Alden, in order to provide renewable energy to many local communities.”
