Quebec tower manufacturer Groupe FabDelta is expanding into turbine hub fabrication after landing an order from Siemens Wind Energy.
FabDelta will produce components for the 147MW Saint-Marguerite wind farm, which will include 46 SWT-3.2MW-113 direct drive turbines.
The company has fabricated towers for Quebec wind projects for almost 15 years.
FabDelta has received about C$3m in federal and provincial financial assistance towards a C$6.45m plant expansion in New Richmond in the Gaspé region of Quebec.
Developer Pattern Energy kicked off construction of the wind farm in November and expects to start commercial operation by the end of 2017.
The project, located about 50 miles south of Quebec City, was purchased from initial proponent RES Canada.
The Saint-Marguerite scheme holds a 25-year power purchase agreement with provincial utility Hydro-Québec.
