Canadian developer Power Renewable Energy (PRE) proposes to install Senvion turbines at a 122.4MW wind project in southeast Alberta.
PRE, a subsidiary of giant diversified holding company Power Corp of Canada, plans to erect 36 3.4MW-140 machines on 110-metre towers at the Jenner wind farm, according to regulatory filings.
Construction will include a 14km 240kV transmission line to connect a new project substation to an existing AltaLink substation in the town of Jenner.
The proponent hopes to receive Alberta Utilities Commission approval in early 2017 and start construction the same year.
However, construction timing will depend on power offtake agreements, said the developer.
PRE expects to participate in Alberta’s upcoming 400MW call for renewable energy, with winners likely to be selected in late 2017.
The developer is also pursuing other offtake opportunities.
The Jenner project could eventually be expanded up to 300MW, said PRE.
