The House of Commons has backed Energy Secretary Amber Rudd’s motion disagreeing with changes made in the Lords to the onshore wind elements of the Energy Bill.
MPs voted 293-224 to disagree with Lords Amendment 7T, which lengthened the grace period criteria for onshore wind projects affected by the early closure of the Renewables Obligation.
The Labour amendment would have seen a one-year grace period for projects where the relevant planning authority had resolved to grant planning permission for a wind farm by 18 June 2015.
The bill, which started in the Lords last July, is at Ping Pong stage.
