Community Windpower has signed Vestas to supply turbines as it reached financial close on its 31MW Sanquhar wind farm in southwest Scotland.
The nine-turbine project will feature V112 3.45MW hardware, as first reported exclusively in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS in June, and is due online in 2017.
A total of £40m in finance for the wind farm was raised from the German export bank KfW Ipex. Nestle is buying up to 125GWh per annum of power produced under a previously announced deal.
Steel towers at Sanquhar in Dumfries and Galloway will come from the CS Wind fabrication facility on the Kintyre peninsula.
CWP managing director Rod Wood said: “Community Windpower is delighted to be working with Nestle UK, KfW, Vestas, CS Wind and all the many other Scottish companies to fulfil the construction and operation of the Sanquhar project.”
