European Energy Group is entering the Mexican renewables market with plans to develop 1GW of wind and solar projects.
The Danish outfit is teaming up with an unnamed local partner to develop the projects, of which 200MW have secured building permits.
European Energy and a partner has an option to acquire 50% of the Mexican company, which currently has 20 employees.
European Energy chief executive Erik Andersen said: “Mexico is a growing economy and the need for energy is rapidly increasing.
“As an experienced renewable energy developer, we perceive this as an opportunity to offer a competitive and green alternative to the Mexican energy market.”
