Deutsche Windtechnik US has doubled its current count of travelling technicians with a signed purchase agreement for wind turbine maintenance business Cooke Power Services.
The acquisition also includes existing customer contracts, including 50MW of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries wind turbines under long term service agreements.
All 38 employees at the Cooke Power Services’ unit will join Deutsche Windtechnik.
Cooke Power Services owner Paul Cooke said: “The acquisition of Cooke Power Services will support market demand for transactional work and increase Deutsche Windtechnik’s MHI capabilities.
“It was the right time to transfer our team and service capabilities to Deutsche Windtechnik as jointly they will form a unique unit to provide high quality O&M services to MHI wind turbine owners in the US reaching from maintenance and repair services to full scope agreements, which is in the best interest of the employees and asset owners.”
Cooke Power Services will continue operating its HV and substation construction business segments.
Deutsche Windtechnik US chief executive Melf Lorenzen said all parties will benefit from the transition.
He said: “We are excited to welcome true wind turbine experts to our growing team.
“Pairing the expertise and experience on MHI wind turbines by former Cooke employees with our existing business in the US will lead to an improved client satisfaction as we can better cover all O&M requirements for this platform whether a la carte repair or inclusive long term agreements.”
