Hergo Japan Energy (HJE), a subsidiary of Italian company Infrastrutture, has secured a feed-in tariff for a 30MW wind project in Japan.
The wind project is located at Kuma Cattle Farm in the Kumamoto prefecture.
HJE is going to execute the interconnection agreement with the regional transmission company and will formalise the FiT entitlement by March 2023.
The project is expected to commence commercial operation towards the end of 2027.
“We are delighted by this success of our Team in Japan which confirms the ambitious targets that we have given to ourselves in order to play our part in the energy transition in Japan and our contribution in making Japan more energy self-sufficient, consistently with the strategy that was set over 10 years ago after the Great East Japan Earthquake,” said Pier Francesco Rimbotti, CEO of Infrastrutture.
Minoru Saito (pictured, left), CEO of Hergo Japan Energy, added: “We are pleased with this award after 2.5 years of massive efforts my team has made.
“While there is more homework to do towards the successful construction of the wind farm, the FiT award certainly enhances our motivation to accomplish the goal within the shortest possible time frame.”
Gianluigi Benedetti (pictured, right), Italian Ambassador in Japan, said: “Hergo Japan’s successful bid further testifies to the extraordinary technological and industrial capabilities Italy can offer in key sectors for the future of our societies and of our planet such as renewable energies and sustainable energy transition.
“On a broader level, this development represents yet another significant contribution to the strengthening of the economic, technological and commercial partnership between Italy and Japan, which constitutes one of the main drivers of our bilateral relations.”
