Irish energy minister Denis Naughten has confirmed that the country’s wind farm support scheme Refit 2 will be extended.
Naughten said he was extending “development milestones” for projects accredited under the scheme that have been hit by “planning and grid delays”. Currently the deadline for projects to be completed is end-2017.
He was speaking at the Irish Renewable Energy Summit in Dublin today and said the final details of the extension to the programme are still being ironed out.
Naughten’s decision to grant an extension was first reported in the subscriber-only reNEWS last month.
“It is important to note that this is not an extension to the scheme itself and will apply only to applicants that applied for Refit support before the closing date of 31 December 2015,” he said.
“Officials are currently engaged with industry. There will be no more extensions.”
