UK renewables developer Infinergy has won planning approval to install three wind turbines at Tata’s IJmuiden steel plant in the Netherlands.
The Ferrum wind farm at the facility near Amsterdam was approved by the local authorities of North Holland Province, Infinergy said.
It will comprise three machines with two or three MW of capacity each and a tip height of 125 metres.
They will be located to the north of the existing Reijndersweg wind farm, which already operates on the site (pictured).
Infinergy, which was bought by its managers last month, won a tender to develop the second wind project last year. The facility is expected to start operating by next Autumn.
“We are delighted with this result, our first planning permission since the management buy-out,” Infinergy chief executive Esbjorn Wilmar said.
“This consent marks the continuation of our activities in the Netherlands where we have successfully developed and constructed a number of other wind farms at industrial sites.”
