The US has installed 908 utility-scale wind turbines totalling 2GW in the first quarter of 2017, according to figures from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).
The AWEA said it was the strongest first quarter for eight years.
The most turbines were installed in Texas – 724MW – followed by Kansas with 481MW, AWEA said.
AWEA chief executive Tom Kiernan said: “We switched on more megawatts in the first quarter than in the first three quarters of last year combined.”
