Ecotricity has been denied permission on appeal for the 14-turbine Straid wind farm in southwest Scotland.
Scottish government officials confirmed local authority rejection of the 32MW project in South Ayrshire largely on the grounds of landscape and visual impacts.
Ecotricity applied to build hardware of up to 99.5 metres in 2012.
The wind farm near Lendalfoot was based around 2.3MW turbines.
It is one of a number of projects planned by the English supplier and developer north of the border.
