EDF Energies Nouvelles has commissioned the 96MW Ensemble Eolien Catalan wind farm in the Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées region of France.
It is the country’s largest onshore facility, ahead of the company’s 87MW Salles-Curan wind farm.
The wind farm consists of 35 Vestas 2–3MW ‘stealth’ turbines, which utilise military technology to decrease reflectivity and so reduce the footprint on radars operated by Météo France.
The technology has been developed with the help of QinetiQ, an international defence, security and technology company.
EDF EN Services will operate and maintain the wind farm.
