EDF Energies Nouvelles has a portfolio of 1368MW in renewable energy projects either in operation or due to be commissioned in the coming years in Latin America.
The company has recently won or acquired three solar projects in Chile, Brazil and Mexico totalling 396MW, and was also awarded a 252MW wind farm in Mexico.
EDF EN has acquired an 80% stake in the 191MW Pirapora I solar project in the south-east of Brazil from Canadian Solar, its first solar project in the country.
In Mexico, the company was successful in the country’s energy auction with the 90MW Bluemex solar facility in Sonora and the 252MW Gunaa Sicarú wind farm in Oaxaca.
In Chile, EDF EN together with local company Andes Mining Energy are to develop the 115MW Santiago solar project.
The project is covered by 15-year power purchase agreements with about 20 distributors buying part of the output, with the remainder to be sold on the market.
By 2019, the company will have 542.5MWc solar and 826MW of wind capacity in installed Latin America.
