EDF Renewables North America has started commercial operations at the 100MW Stoneray wind farm in Minnesota.
The project, which is located in Pipestone and Murray counties, features 39 Siemens Gamesa turbines.
Electricity generated by Stoneray will be delivered to Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency starting in 2020.
EDF Renewables said it will perform asset management services, balance-of-plant and remote monitoring and diagnostics of the project from its San Diego-based operations control centre during the equipment warranty period.
Following the warranty period, the contract will expand to include all asset management, and operations and maintenance services.
EDF vice president of development in the north region Kate O’Hair said: “We are grateful for the community and landowners who backed the development of this project for several years.
“This level of long-standing support, along with the state’s favorable regulatory environment, excellent wind resource, and advantageous transmission expansion, is vital to bringing wind projects to operation.”
Stoneray is EDF Renewables’ 12th wind farm in the state, bringing the total to 1.6GW.
