EDF Renewables North America is preparing to start construction of its 300MW Milligan 1 wind project in Nebraska, US, next month.
The developer has awarded a $98m contract to Infrastructure Energy Alternatives (IEA) to provide engineering and construction services for the wind farm’s 99 turbine foundations, access roads, MV collection system, turbine installation and the on-site operations and maintenance building.
Milligan 1, which will be located in Saline County in south-east Nebraska, will use a combination of Vestas V110 turbines as well as turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa.
It is expected to start operations by November 2020 and will supply electricity for delivery into the Southwest Power Pool grid.
IEA chief executive JP Roehm said: “This significant new project in Nebraska is indicative of the ongoing strong demand for wind power that we are experiencing this year.”
The company has assembled and installed more than 7200 wind turbines across North America.
