EDF Renewables is to explore potential for a 400MW wind farm in the Scottish Borders region.
The Liddesdale wind farm proposal will be developed collaboratively with local community.
EDF Renewables is looking to develop the project in two areas of commercial forestry within the Scottish Borders, in Wauchope Forest and Newcastleton Forest.
A scoping report for the proposed site, which could consist of up to 80 wind turbines, a battery energy storage system and solar, is being submitted this week to Scottish Borders Council by EDF Renewables UK.
While the plant is in the very initial stages of development, the project team is beginning early engagement with local residents, community councils, local groups and elected representatives.
The team will also be attending the Border Union Show on 28 and 29 July, and the Holm Show on 26 August, ahead of in-person community engagement events at the end of the summer.
EDF Renewables UK development project manager Andrew Bennett said: “The plans for the proposed Liddesdale wind farm are at an early stage and there is still a large amount of information to gather before a detailed proposal can be finalised.
“The submission of the scoping report to Scottish Borders Council is an important initial milestone for the project – allowing us to begin robust and detailed conversations with the local community on our proposal.”
