Ireland’s national planning authority has approved permission EDF’s up-to 50MW Seskin wind farm proposal in County Carlow.
The project is authorised for a seven-turbine layout, and EDF expects a commercial operations date in 2029.
An Coimisiún Pleanála has given the thumbs up for turbines with a tip height of 180 metres and rotor diameter between 149 and 155 metres.
ACP wrote in its decision that the proposal is “acceptable in principle having regard to national, regional and local policy in support of, and requiring the delivery of increased on shore wind energy to meet climate and energy security objectives”.
The wind farm will have a set back of 720m to the nearest house from each turbine, and will connect to the grid via a 38kV underground cable to the existing Kilkenny 110kV substation.
