EDPR has started commercial operation at its 104MW Crossing Trails onshore wind farm in Colorado.
The project consists of 20 4.3MW and five 3.6MW turbines which EDPR say are among the most advanced installed in the area to date.
The Portuguese company has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) in place for the project with Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, a non-profit electricity supply cooperative.
Crossing Trails takes EDPR’s total installed renewable capacity in the US to 6,495MW.
Commissioning of the development involved more than 100 workers, with the operational project offering permanent operations and maintenance roles.
EDPR says that Crossing Trails will raise $12mn (€9.95mn) for local government throughout its lifespan.
The company expects to further expand its presence in the country through the successful closing of new PPAs that reinforce its low-risk profile and its growth strategy based on the development of competitive projects with long-term visibility.
