EDP Renewables has pulled the plug on the 250MW Number Nine wind farm in northern Maine.
The project needed new system transmission lines to interconnect to the New England grid, however, the wires have yet to be constructed.
The “disappointing” delays led to the loss of a 20-year power purchase agreement with two Connecticut utilities.
EDPR plans to “refresh the project design and prepare for the next permitting effort,” project manager Katie Chapman told reNEWS.
The developer is working to secure a new offtake deal for the project.
EDPR proposed to construct up to 119 Gamesa turbines on more than 50,000 acres in Aroostook County, near the border with Canada.
