EDP Renewable North America, a subsidiary of Portugal’s EDPR, has signed long-term power purchase agreements with commercial and industrial companies to sell electricity from the 100MW Hidalgo wind farm extension in Texas.
The wind farm had initially secured PPAs for 150MW in April 2014 but the extension will bring its total size to 250MW next year.
EDPR said it had secured PPAs in additional 200MW of wind energy above its 2014-2017 growth targets.
The company said the US market continues to experience a favourable environment following the extension in December 2014 of the production tax credits.
