EnBW commissions German wind farm

EnBW commissions German wind farm

Developer EnBW has commissioned a wind farm in Germany following grid connection delays.

Construction of turbines for the Wulkow-Trebnitz wind farm (pictured) was completed in 2023 but the project was held back by delays in connecting to the grid, the company said.

Naturwind Potsdam had received a permit for the project at the end of 2020.

The project developers and operators WPD and EnBW were able to commission the nine Vestas V150 wind turbines at the end of 2024.

Five of these turbines are being operated by EnBW and have a total height of 150 metres and capacity of 4.2MW each.

It is expected they will supply energy for 24,000 households.

Project manager at EnBW Manuel Opitz said: “We had to wait a long time for the grid connection, which of course was not planned that way.

“We are happy to have finally reached the milestone of commissioning.

“Our sincere thanks go to all partners and municipalities involved for their valuable support during the construction phase of the wind farm.”

By means of a so-called subordinated loan, interested citizens will be able to participate financially in the success of the wind farm by investing a fixed amount of 500 euros to 10,000 euros for a period of seven years.

This will then bear interest of 4.75% annually.

All private individuals with full legal capacity who live in the Brandenburg municipalities of Müncheberg, Neuhardenberg and Vierlinden can participate.

The subscription phase is due to begin at the end of February.
