EnBW has begun construction of a 38MW wind project in Brandenburg, Germany.
The Prötzel 2 wind farm will feature nine Enercon E138 turbines.
Commissioning of the wind turbines is scheduled for the end of July 2023.
In mid-March, EnBW was awarded the contract for the wind farm by the Federal Network Agency.
The turbines, with a hub height of 160 metres each, will be installed through the rest of 2022 and in early 2023, after the preparatory work is complete, including laying of cable routes.
Municipalities in Brandenburg will benefit from revenues generated by the wind farm with a “wind power euro”, where operators of wind turbines that are newly built or expanded in Brandenburg are obliged to pay €10,000 per year to neighbouring municipalities including places within a radius of 3 km of turbines.
In addition to the “wind power euro”, the neighbouring communities will receive a voluntary donation of 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour generated according to the EEG.
