Enefit Green to construct 72MW Finnish wind

Baltic renewables player Enefit Green will begin constructing its first wind farm in Finland, a 72MW project, in early 2022.

Enefit Green recently made an investment decision to build the wind farm, in Tolpanvaara, which will be completed by the end of 2023.

The wind farm will comprise 13 Nordex wind turbines and the total investment required for the construction of the wind farm amounts to €82.9m.

Around 60% of the production of the Tolpanvaara wind farm will be covered by a long-term electricity sales contract for the first seven years of operation.

A wind farm construction contract will be entered into with a construction company in the near future, chosen through a procurement process.

The wind turbines will be manufactured by Nordex, a company with long-term and global experience. Enefit Green carried out a procurement to find both contractors.

Enefit Green acquired the Tolpanvaara Wind Farm development project from its previous owner Metsahallitus, which manages Finnish state forest, in 2020.

In addition to Tolpanvaara, Enefit Green has made investment decisions this year for two more wind farms to be built in Lithuania with a total capacity of 118MW.

In 2021, Enefit Green decided to invest a total of €227.9m in wind farms.

Upon their completion, the company’s total production capacity will be 727MW.

Enefit Green has set a goal to increase its production capacity to 1100MW by 2025.

Enefit Green produces renewable energy in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, from a portfolio comprising 22 wind farms, 38 solar power plants, four combined heat and power plants, a pellet plant and a hydroelectric power plant.
