Enel Green Power has completed the expansion of the almost 210MW Delfina wind farm in Brazil, four years ahead of schedule.
The company has brought a further 29.4MW online, raising total capacity to 209.4MW.
Enel said the expansion involved an investment of $40m, with the construction work having started in October last year.
Delfina is located in the Campo Formoso municipality in the Brazilian state of Bahia.
The expansion will result in an additional 160 gigawatt-hours a year of electricity, Enel said.
Enel Green Power managing director for South America Antonio Scala said: “Thanks to the expansion of our largest operational wind farm in Brazil, well ahead of schedule, we’re reasserting the commitment to bolster our presence in Brazil’s high-potential market, where we’re currently the largest operator in terms of installed capacity and project portfolio.”
The fully operational wind farm will generate 960GWh of power each year.
