Enel Green Power Brasil Participações has started commercial operations at the 180MW Delfina wind farm in the Brazilian state of Bahia.
The $400m project is located in the municipality of Campo Formoso and was financed by Enel and a loan from the Brazilian Development Bank.
Enel country manager in Brazil Carlo Zorzoli said: “The entry into service of Delfina, which is Enel’s largest wind farm in Brazil, is a testament to our team’s ability to quickly and efficiently build and commission our projects, making Brazil a leading contributor to the group’s growth in renewables.
“Delfina’s start of operation reinforces our commitment to Brazil’s growing renewable energy sector, and thanks to the sustainable initiatives we are implementing in the areas surrounding the plant, we are contributing to local biodiversity and to the development of neighbouring communities”.
Enel has established a set of initiatives in the areas neighboring Delfina, including programmes for the preservation of two local endangered species, the blue Lear’s macaw and the Caatinga biome cougar.
