Enel Green Power installed a record 2018MW of renewable energy capacity during 2016, more than doubling installations in the previous year.
The Italian company, which installed about 900MW in 2015, completed large-scale projects in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, South Africa and the US last year.
These included wind farms such as the 129MW Palo Alto and 100MW Vientos del Altiplano plants in Mexico, the 88MW Nojoli facility in South Africa and half of the 400MW Cimarron Bend project in the US – its largest ever.
In 2017, the developer will focus on the US and Brazil, it said.
“This record confirms once again the incredible efforts made by the entire Enel Green Power team,” chief executive Francesco Venturini said.
The company added that it also has installed the first nacelle at its 45-turbine, 90MW Cristalandia wind farm in Brazil’s Bahia state.
