Turbine manufacturer Enercon has called on the German government to amend the country’s renewable energy sources act (EEG) by allocating at least 2.5GW of capacity to onshore wind under the new tendering regime.
Enercon said the act will introduce a tendering system which will leave onshore wind competing for limited capacity left over from other renewable energy sectors.
This will result in a “drastic reduction” in installations in Germany and could put jobs at risk, the company said.
Enercon managing director Hans-Dieter Kettwig said: “Our progressive growth in the German market would come to a standstill.
“Not only that, it is also expected to have a negative impact on jobs with manufacturers and suppliers as well as on the progression of the decentralised energy transition and its acceptance.”
More than 1000 Enercon employees took part today in the Germany-wide ‘one-minute warning’ demonstration calling for amendments to the EEG.
