The turbine will have a rotor diameter of 147 metres and will be suited to wind class IIA sites.
Measures are also being taken to prepare for installation of the first turbines at sites in Finland.
The E-147 EP5/4.3 MW prototype phase also marks the first joint turbine type to be launched on the market since Enercon acquired the Dutch manufacturer Lagerwey.
Enercon is also currently developing the E-160 EP5/4.6 MW and the E-147 EP5 E2/5.0 MW, which are both planned to enter the prototype phase in 2020.
