French independent power producer Kallista Energy has acquired a 40% share in the 102MW Krammer wind farm in the province of Zeeland, the Netherlands, from Enercon.
The deal follows Kallista Energy’s acquisition in 2019 of Oostflakkee wind farm (Goeree-Overflakkee), located just a few kilometres away from Krammer.
Windpark Krammer consists of 34 Enercon E-115 wind turbines, each with a 3MW capacity and 122 metres hub heights and was commissioned in March 2019.
The project was initiated by residents who, after having contributed to its development and construction, manage the wind farm through the Deltawind and Zeeuwind cooperatives.
The cooperatives own the remaining 60% of the wind farm, and together comprise 5000 members.
Kallista Energy, backed by funds advised by Ardian on behalf of APG and AXA, its institutional shareholders, acquired the shares that were held by Enercon.
With this new acquisition and Oostflakkee wind farm, Kallista Energy owns 134MW of onshore wind energy in the Netherlands, in addition to its 213MW in operation in France.
Kallista Energy president Frederic Roche said: “Windpark Krammer illustrates perfectly how enterprising spirit combined with expert wind technology can enable thousands of inhabitants to act for energy transition in their region.
“We are very proud to have been chosen by Enercon to succeed them in one of the most emblematic wind farms in the Netherlands and very enthusiastic to be involved in this project alongside the Deltawind and Zeeuwind cooperatives.”
Enercon country manager Bram van Noort said: “We truly enjoyed working close with the entire Krammer team.
It was a great experience to realise such an ambitious wind farm together with Deltawind and Zeeuwind.
“In Kallista we find a trustful and pragmatic partner with whom we are glad to continue to collaborate both as service provider for WindPark Krammer and as supplier and project partner for other onshore projects in the Netherlands and in other markets of our new sales region.”
