Enercon has secured an agreement with Orsted to supply turbines for a wind project in Northern Ireland.
Enercon will install seven E-82 E4 wind turbines for Orsted’s site at Ballykeel, County Antrim, with a total installed capacity of 16MW.
The energy generated at the Ballykeel wind farm will be sold to a large online retailer under a long-term fixed-price corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA), the first of its kind in Northern Ireland.
Enercon Western Europe chief executive Frederic Maenhaut said: “Enercon is pleased to enter into this agreement to supply Orsted with WECs at its Ballykeel site in Northern Ireland.
“It is inspiring to work with organisations that are committed to investing in and using renewable energy to power their business now and into the future.”
Turbine installation will commence at the end of 2022 and it is anticipated that the site will be commissioned in 2023.
This contract will be supported by a 20-year maintenance agreement.
Over 670 Enercon wind turbines representing more than 1.4GW of installed capacity produce clean energy on the island of Ireland, amounting to a market share of 21%.
