Engie has inaugurated a wind farm in France.
The inauguration of the Turgon site was attended by mayor of Turgon Régis Martin and New Aquitaine development manager of Engie Green Mathieu Le Grelle.
The project comprises five 2.1MW wind turbines and has a capacity of 10.5MW, covering the annual electricity consumption of around 10,000 people.
The forecast tax benefits amount to €144,000 a year, or €2.8m over 20 years distributed between local authorities (municipality, community of municipalities, department and region).
The wind farm is the result of a process of development and local consultation initiated in 2008 with the territory.
In accordance with the TED label, an acronym for “Sustainable Energy Transition”, the site forms part of Engie’s approach to developing renewable energy, which is structured around three axes.
These are to develop projects in consultation with stakeholders, to contribute to decarbonisation of the energy mix and to build projects in respect for the environment In the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
