Chinese company Envision Energy has signed an agreement for Skanska to manage the logistics of building the Kafjärden wind farm in Sweden.
Skanska will design the roads, crane bases and foundations before wind turbines are installed at the 23.5MW Kafjärden project, which will feature four EN-120/3.0MW machines and five EN-115/2.3MW turbines.
Envision developed the larger wind turbine from its European base in Denmark and is currently being tested at the National Test Centre in Østerild. Commercial operatios are due in the summer of 2016.
Envision Energy head of business John Childs said: “We are extremely excited about the partnership with Skanska Sweden AB concerning the significant amount of engineering work to be done before the installation of the wind turbines.
“It gives us both a tried and tested solution from a supplier we have complete faith in and a good business case to present to our stakeholders. Skanska will be responsible for designing the contractor phase, purchase of materials and equipment, as well as the actual contractor work itself.”
Skanska manager Oliver Vollert said: “At Skanska, we look very much forward to the partnership with Envision Energy. Envision is an internationally recognised wind turbine supplier, and together we expect to create a high quality solution to the mutual benefit of both partners, and a solution that can be presented to the rest of the European market.”
