ERG Group has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Amazon to provide renewable energy from its 47MW Corlacky wind farm in Northern Ireland.
Construction of the wind farm is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of this year, with commercial operation to follow.
Once completed, the plant will consist of 11 Vestas V117 turbines of 4.3MW each, for a total installed capacity of 47.3MW and an estimated annual production of around 176GWh when fully operational.
This is enough to meet the energy consumption needs of more than 55,000 UK households, ERG said.
ERG’s chief executive officer Paolo Merli said: “This important agreement with a global corporate player confirms ERG’s leadership in the PPA market, which are fundamental tools for stabilising revenues in a volatile price scenario.
“Thanks to this additional agreement, the amount of energy securitised by the Group through PPAs increases to more than 3TWh per year.”
