South Africa utility Eskom is seeking to offload or dismantle a pair of vintage Vestas turbines at the Klipheuwel project in the Western Cape.
The company is inviting tenders from contractors interested in either purchasing the V66 1.75MW and V67 660kW units outright or taking them down and returning the site to Eskom.
Bids are due with the utility by 10am local time on 15 June. Offers will be judged either on highest price or, if that does not produce a winner, the lowest cost to Eskom.
Klipheuwel has been up and running since 2002. It was part of a research and development programme looking at different wind technologies.
A Jeumont J48 750kW machine installed in 2003 at the stie is not part of the tender.
