Local authorities have approved European Energy and Energiequelle’s plans to repower a wind farm in Tüttendorf, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany from 12.5MW to 49.6MW.
The companies received approval to add eight Vestas V162-6.2MW turbines at a height of 200 metres.
“The community energy company BWP Tüttendorf Projekt GmbH & Co. KG will become co-owner of the new turbines. This will give citizens a direct stake in the wind farm and promote regional value creation,” managing director of European Energy Deutschland Johannes Thon said.
“Repowering the wind turbines will make them more efficient and more powerful. The amount of electricity generated will be multiplied,” head of project management in Schleswig-Holstein at Energiequelle Sören Lang said.
Before the new wind turbines are erected the existing ones will be dismantled.
