Renewable Energy Systems has sold the 198MW Bluestem wind farm in Beaver County, Oklahoma, to Exelon Generation.
The deal was finalised on December 24, 2015 and a notice to proceed with construction was issued at the same time. The company also finalised a turbine supply agreement with Vestas on that date.
Construction of the wind farm is set to start immediately and is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2016. The wind farm will use 60 Vestas 3.3MW V117 wind turbine generators
A power purchase agreement has been finalised with Google.
“RES is pleased to work with Exelon and Google in the pursuit of making data centers greener for the economy of tomorrow,” stated RES chief executive Glen Davis.
Exelon Generation vice president Corey Hessen said: “We look forward to providing clean, cost effective energy to Google under this long-term agreement.”
Vestas Americas president Chris Brown said: “I am pleased to see the 3MW platform continuing to work as a solution for our customers in what traditionally has been a 2MW market.”
Bluestem is RES’ seventh Oklahoma wind project and it is Exelon’s first. Exelon is the 12th largest US wind producer with 1500MW of wind capacity already operating and more in the pipeline.
