The first turbine has been installed at Rezolv Energy’s 461MW Vifor wind farm in Buzău County, Romania.
The EnVentus Vestas V162 turbine (pictured) has a tower height of 166 metres and a rotor diameter of 162 metres. With a capacity of 6.4MW, it has the largest power output of any turbine in Romania.
Phase 1 of Vifor will involve the installation of 30 turbines with a total capacity of 192MW. The project’s second phase will add a further 42 turbines, bringing the total capacity to 461MW.
Once fully operational, Vifor will become the largest wind farm built in Romania over the last 10 years, and one of the largest onshore wind farms in Europe. It will generate enough electricity to power more than 700,000 homes.
Last week, Rezolv Energy revealed it had secured financing of up to €331m to support construction of the 269MW second phase of the wind farm.
