Fortum, Enel and JSC VetroOGK have won the rights to build 1.6GW of projects in Russia before end-2022.
The companies were successful in the country’s first onshore wind tender with a total of 2.5GW of projects put forward.
Finnish utility Fortum will in association with local partner Rusnano build 1GW across 26 projects starting with 50MW in 2018 and rolling through the entire period.
Prices secured were between €115 and €135 per megawatt-hour.
Enel Russia will build two large projects totalling 291MW starting in 2020. Investment in the wind farms will total €405m and Siemens Gamesa has been lined up to supply turbines to the portfolio.
JSC will build 15 projects totalling 360MW starting in 2020.
Contracts for all projects must be signed by 30 September.
