The Syndicate of Renewable Energies (SER) and France Energie Eolienne (FEE) have called upon the French government to implement measures to support a target of 34GW of wind by 2028.
Wind energy companies represented by the two trade bodies have urged the government to “guarantee a stable development framework” for wind power in France, while working jointly on solutions that take into account expectations of citizens and regions.
The government has recently concluded a public consultation on the country’s Multiannual Energy Programming (PPE).
SER and FEE have asked the government to maintain its commitment to wind.
The PPE provides for a regular ramp-up in the rate of installation of wind turbines with a target of more than 24GW by 2023 and 34GW by 2028.
SER president Jean-Louis Bal said: “For the SER, which welcomed the ambition of the energy law and the objectives of the PPE project, it is important to maintain consistency between the objectives announced and the means to be implemented for the development of the wind power sector.
“The profession acts and will continue to act in a constructive and responsible spirit to increase the harmonious and balanced development of the parks throughout the territory.”
FEE president Nicolas Wolff added: “Today there is a gap between the ambitious PPE objectives and the means implemented to achieve them.
“We must continue to work in an atmosphere of calm and confidence to co-construct, as widely as possible, the French wind turbine.”

The wind industry is very committed and continues to formulate concrete proposals to enable France to achieve its energy transition objectives while making wind energy an essential lever for projects in our territories.”
