Galileo Empower has submitted a planning application for the 476MW Dorenell Extension wind farm and biodiversity enhancement plan in Scotland.
The proposals include 67 turbines, each between 149.9m and 250m in height, alongside a battery storage facility, on the Cabrach and Glenfiddich Estate about 10km south of Dufftown.
The Edinburgh-based project team said the submission follows two rounds of public consultation across 2024 and 2025, with the final design incorporating community feedback.
Galileo said the scheme, if approved, will support Scotland’s energy transition and deliver economic and social benefits to the region through construction and operation.
The developer has also committed to using local supply chains wherever possible and to provide the Scottish Government’s recommended £5000 per MW of installed capacity in annual community benefit.
Options for community part ownership are being explored in dialogue with local residents, facilitated by Local Energy Scotland.
Galileo senior project manager Jason Morin said: “Our submission of the formal application represents a major milestone for the whole project, and we are delighted to have met and discussed the project with so many local people as part of our extensive consultation.
“Our ambition has always been to be a good neighbour to adjacent communities, and our project will represent a major investment in the local economy, providing significant community benefits and clean renewable energy we need for our future.”
