GE Renewable Energy is supplying turbines totalling 143MW to Holmen for the Blabergsliden wind farm in Sweden.
The deal covers delivery of 26 machines from GE’s Cypress onshore wind platform, as well as a 25-year service contract.
Construction will start shortly, with the turbines to be fully commissioned and operational by the end of 2021, GE said.
Five full-time jobs will be created once the project is operational.
GE said the Cypress platform offers two benefits ideally suited the Nordic region.
First, the two-piece blade design makes it easier and more cost-effective to serve remote areas.
In addition, “the fact that it is the most powerful onshore turbine currently operating commercially helps it to drive down costs,” GE said.
GE onshore wind in Europe chief executive Peter Wells said: “The benefits of the Cypress platform make it the perfect fit for the Nordics region.
“That’s why we’re confident that this deal with Holmen can be one of many in the market.”
