The supervisory board of Eesti Energia Group has made a final investment decision for the 75MW Akmene wind farm in Lithuania, which will feature GE turbines.
The wind farm will be built by Vejo Parkai, which is part of Eesti Energia’s 100% subsidiary Enefit Green.
GE will supply 14 turbines with capacities of 5.3MW and 5.5MW.
Eesti Energia said total investment in the project is €85m, of which €66m is the turbine supply contract and €19m for construction by Merko Statyba.
The expected annual production volume of the completed park is 258 gigawatt-hours.
Akmene is scheduled online by the end of 2023.
The investment decision will enable the Eesti Energia Group to move forward with a growth plan, the central part of which is electricity production based on renewable energy, the company said.
A power purchase agreement for the first five years of operations has been struck with Eesti Energia’s customer service unit for 80% of the output.
