Germany´s KfW IPEX-Bank and Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen have agreed to provide $160.3m to refinance the 117.5MW Peralta wind farm built by Enercon in Uruguay.
The loan will be paid in three tranches and is partially covered by a federal export credit guarantee from the German government, state-owned KfW IPEX-Bank said.
The wind farm, located in Cuchilla de Peralta in the centre of the country, started operating last September with 50 Enercon E-92 turbines.
Enercon is involved in the project as investor, turbine supplier, construction and operation partner, according to the lender.
It will also provide long-term servicing for the turbines for more than 15 years.
The developer is local firm Agua Leguas.
The South American country aims to generate as much as 38% of its electricity production from wind energy by 2017, compared with 13% in mid-2015.
