Local officials have approved a 350MW wind farm proposed by Invenergy in northeast Nebraska.
The Antelope County Board of Supervisors voted six to one in favour of the Upstream wind farm, which encompasses about 70,000 acres.
The developer proposes to build up to 168 1.7MW to 2.3MW GE or similar tier-one manufacturer turbines.
Electricity will be delivered via a 115kV transmission line to the Nebraska Public Power District Antelope County substation.
Chicago-headquartered Invenergy anticipates the Upstream wind farm will inject about $3m a year into the local economy through taxes, landowner payments, employee wages and other local spending.
Construction will create an estimated 390 jobs.
